All addresses given are Dundee unless otherwise stated. References: John Prebbles excellent book 'The High Girders' gives a great account of this dreadful night, but the best source for those interested in the Tay Bridge Disaster is undoubtedly David Swinfen's 'The Fall of the Tay Bridge', published 1994 by Mercat Press, Edinburgh, ISBN 1-873644-34-5. The Brands are mentioned in this, as victim George Ness (above) was married to Ann Brand of Tayport. A picture of his grave in Tayport cemetery is featured on the Bridges Connection page elsewhere on this site.
