The stone in the garden wall

Kinnell Manse is situated just outside the village of Friockheim in Angus, on a side road just off the B965. The kirk itself is now fast becoming a ruin. Please ask at the Manse (now owned by a local farmer) to view the stone, which is set as part of the coping into a low wall in the manse garden. Permission was readily granted when I called (31/1/03) and I was told that several people each year call to see the stone.

It is of local whinstone, carved with two spiral serpents looking away from each other.
